Double top six for Camier at home round
MV Agusta Reparto Corse man picks up more good points at Donington Park
Leon Camier left his home round at the Donington Park Circuit with 20 more points than he had on arrival, thanks to a solid double top six performance.
After a difficult Friday which had seen him lose time in both free practice sessions Camier had a more productive Saturday, qualifying in tenth place on the grid but going on to make up several positions in Race 1 to finish in sixth place.
Starting third on the grid in Race 2 he worked hard throughout the 23-lap contest in front of his home fans to secure another top six finish and add another ten points to his tally in the general standings.
The MV Agusta Reparto Corse rider’s Race 2 result put him amongst five fellow Britons to finish in the top six on Sunday, to the delight of the Donington crowd.
After six rounds of the 2017 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship Camier sits eighth in the general standings on 84 points, with Xavi Fores (BARNI Racing Team) 15 points above him in seventh place.
Camier reviewed Race 2 and the weekend in general stating, “All in all it was a good race for us all and a positive result for the championship standing. We had some little issues over the weekend but luckily in the race I had a good feeling with the bike and I was able to stay with the front guys. I now look forward to the next round in Misano, where I hope we can have another positive race weekend for all our Italian fans.”
